By accepting ICQ's "Acceptable Use Policy", you transfer rights on all text you sent through messenger to ICQ. Am I dreaming? Nopes. Read their policy, its the same one you accept when you install ICQ messenger and same one you accept when you create account at ICQ. Here is the paragraph:
"You agree that by posting any material or information anywhere on the ICQ Services and Information you surrender your copyright and any other proprietary right in the posted material or information. You further agree that ICQ Inc. is entitled to use at its own discretion any of the posted material or information in any manner it deems fit, including, but not limited to, publishing the material or distributing it".
At first I thought this is only for plugins and other developed material. This is not acceptable either but at least I can understand. But no, at the beginning of policy, you can read what "ICQ Services and Information" is:
"...ICQ network, system, software, servers, various directories and listings, various message and news boards, tools, information and databases (together with the ICQ Web site will be referred to as the "ICQ Services and Information")."
See? It includes software and tools, which is ICQ messenger as well. So when next time you want to send your poem to your friend or publisher via ICQ... better use plain old e-mail for this.
